One last visit with Pap

Miller knew immediately the minute we walked into the room that Pap was lying in the hospital bed that that was Her Pap and believe me he knew the same. That that was his Miller Grace. He instantly wanted Miller to lay down in the bed with him. I just knew she was going to throw one of her back arching fits. But she didn't. She was so happy to see her Pap. You could see it in both of their eyes when they made contact. Pap went on to a glorious reunion on March 15, 2009. He met his Mother who was the apple of his eye, his strong-willed child, Linda, & his favorite coach, Tommy at the entrance of the pearly gates where the streets are gold. But I can honestly say he said.... I want to see Jesus and take a picture of him. Ü If you knew my pap, he always had his camera around his neck with his handheld police scanner in one hand. What a blessing Pap was to everyone in our family. Even though Miller didn't get to know him long... She knew who he was when she saw him.

She loves her sippie cup. Just one more way she feels independent. I have no clue where she might get that quality from... We mixed apple juice with water and she loved it. Hopefully it wont be as hard breaking her from the bottle.

Miller was really enjoying herself at Uncle B's baseball tournament out in Elysian Fields. She doesn't have a choice but to like baseball since she has the Goswick last name. You can see in some pictures how Miller hates having sunscreen on her face.

Miller meets Point of Grace

Point of Grace were the musicians for our annual women's event at church this year, Feminar. Throughout the weekend they kept asking about Miller Grace and if they could meet her. This is the moment they had all been waiting for. You can tell by the looks on their faces they thought she was a doll... something we already knew.

Sitting up in her Bath Tub

Miller has finally conquerred the task of sitting up by herself in her bath tub. She thinks she is so big now. And boy does it give Mommy's back a break from having to bend so far over the bath tub ledge. This makes everyone Happy!

We celebrated GG's Birthday alittle different this year. We went to her house and all the kiddos cooked a breakfast supper for her. She loved it because she had all of her "birdies in her nest". Miller wasn't in the best mood... one of her many sides.

The time has come.... Miller has reached 14 lbs and is ready to begin solids according to Dr. Hudson. He did tell us that we should start with rice cereal and after a week or so begin veggies and then finally introduce fruits. As you can tell by the pictures, she was very interested in something new. It's hard to tell if she liked the taste of it because every bite was spit out as she was trying to figure out how to swallow. Altogether, it was a fun experience for us all.

Visit to Hope

A few days after the Christmas gatherings settled down we made a day trip to Hope, Arkanasas to visit my Mamaw and Pap. Pap was recently diagnosed with Colon Cancer and it has since spread to his liver and other parts of the body. He is under Hospice care at this time but several very nice nurses and caregivers as well as his #1 fan... Mamaw.
We interupted Mamaw getting her hair curled but she was so excited to see Miller, it didn't bother her one bit.

Christmas Night at Grannie Goswick's

Every year on the night of Christmas the Goswick Family all goes to Grannie G's for a few gifts and food and games. GG played goo goo with Miller while Shane & I beat G-Pop & Uncle Charlie at Wahoo. Wahoo is a board game that is similar to Chinese Checkers. It is a family tradition during the holidays to play Wahoo.

Miller First Christmas Morning

Santa Claus was so good to us this year. I believe that means we were good all year long. Even though this Christmas brought about many NEW traditions and experiences it was one that I don't think any of us will ever forget. It was our first Christmas with Miller Grace as well as our first Christmas without daddy. The Lord definately gives and takes away. One of our new traditions this year was for Cory's girlfriend, Megan, and her sister, Afton, to come stay at our house along with DeDe and Uncie Cory the night of Christmas Eve. DeDe bought us all matching pj's. DeDe bought Miller her first little Red wagon along with Diapers, wipes and formula. Uncie Cory & Megan also got her formula and diapers. Shane & I gave Miller her first Bible.
Cory and Megan gave me a handmade blanket of all of my dad's coaching t-shirts. It was by far the best gift I have ever received. Miller got Shane the electronic monopoly game. He loved it.
This Christmas was spent alittle differently than years past but it was truely one that wont be forgotten.

Christmas with GG & G-Pop

The eve of Christmas Eve GG & G-Pop & Uncle Brandon and Aunt Leah came to spend the night with us. After a wild game of Catch Phrase we headed off to bed so Santa could come visit Miller. After a morning of sleeping in, we decided to get up and open presents. Wow... Santa AKA GG & G-Pop were really good to us this year. Daddy got jeans and insulated cover-alls for hunting. Mommie got a new straight iron. Miller got lots and lots and lots of solid food, diapers, wipes, & formula. GG & G-Pop got a canvas made with pictures of Miller's body parts. For example, her ear, toes, fingers, nose, eyes, ect. They loved it!! Uncle Brandon & Aunt Leah got a brand new camera and boy they were excited. Although the gifts were nice, it was a blessing just to be together and laugh with one another.

Annual Ornament Exchange

This year, my sweet friend Brittany Kuykendall, started an annual Ornament Exchange for us girls who have grown up together through the years. It was such a neat time for us to get back together over the years... especially with our new additions. Ü This was so much fun, I am already looking forward to next year and yes I have already purchased my ornament.

Dallas Trip

Miller made her second trip to the Big D. It was packed full of shopping and eating out. She was such a trooper. She even got to meet the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders on Saturday at their rehearsal. As Kelly, the director was playing with her I told her not to critique Miller's chubby cheeks... that she would eventually outgrow them. Mommie and Daddie took a picture with mommie's favorite cheerleader, Jordan Chanley. She is so sweet and loves the Lord. DeDe took Miller to the Gaddis' house while Shane and I went to the Cowboys/Giants game on Sunday night. Shane had such a good time... Megan came and got us right after halftime and took us to the Stadium Club which overlooks the entire field. We watched the rest of the game with all the high rollers in Dallas. Then she took us on the field after the game and we were able to see Romo and T.O. as they walked in the tunnel. Needless to say we got stuck in our parking spot after the game because traffic was so bad. Fortunately, Nastia Luikin was in a car next to us so I got out and took a picture with her. Nastia is the reigning Olympic Gold Medalist in the All Around Gymnastics. It was very nice of her to get out in the freezing cold to take a picture. The weekend was so much fun!

Miller meets Santa Claus

I took Miller to meet Santa Claus at our mall in Longview. She did so well. I just knew the minute I handed her over to him she was going to fall apart, but she didn't. She just snuggled right up to his soft white fur. I told him she wanted three things for Christmas... diapers, wipes, and formula. He told me he figured he could handle that. I told him she has been a very good girl this year considering she has only been here for 3 1/2 months. I can only hope next years trip to visit Santa goes that well. Ü

Miller's New Hat

One day last week Miller received a package in the mail from Jennifer and her girls. It was packed full of hair bows and a few hats with fur on them. Miller loves the pink one. We had been looking at different stores trying to find a hat or beanie to keep her head warm when we were out but all we could find was an Texas A&M one at Academy and Daddy exed that one very quickly. Too bad Uncie Cory wasn't with us because he would have purchased it for her.

It has been so difficult trying to get a decent family picture for this year's Christmas Card. Fortuntely, my best friend Allison is a really good photographer, so she took our picture one night we were over having dinner. And that ended up being our Christmas card. We couldn't get Miller to look at the camera... she was watching "Polar Express" on the T.V. She is her father's child.

Thankgiving with the Halliburton's

Thanksgiving this year was spent alittle different...
We have tried to start new traditions this year for several reasons. One, since we lost dad this past January, Two, we have Miller Grace, and three because we are in a new season of our lives.

Therefore, Thanksgiving with the Halliburton's was spent on the November 28th.

Due to the Cowboys having a home game on Thanksgiving Day Uncie Cory & Megan couldn't make it in until Friday morning. So once they arrived we celebrated with lots of Turkey, Ham, & Desserts.

Thanksgiving at Mamaw & Pap's

We celebrated Thanksgiving with Mamaw & Pap on Tuesday before Thanksgiving because all our relatives from out of state came in town. This is not only Thanksigiving for our family but also Birthdays for Courtney, Cousin Melissa, & Dad as well as Christmas because my cousins who live out of state can't come for both holidays. So needless to say, it was a very busy day. This was also a very emotional day because it was our first Thanksgiving with out dad. The Lord was faithful in seeing us through. This past year has truely taught me what I'm thankful for and that is my family.

Miller's First time in the Nursery at Church

Miller did very well her first time in the nursery at Church. Mommie was alittle anxious about taking her. I even lost some sleep over it. Thankfully, Amanda, a nursery worker, who loves children was in Miller's class so it made me feel lots better. Miller did really well on Sunday morning but when we took her back on Sunday night, so Shane & I could go to our Baby Wise class, Amanda had to come get me. Miller was having a moment. I showed her how she likes to be bounced away from your body in front of you & from then on Amanda had it taken care of. I just pray Miller doesn't pull some of the tricks I pulled when I was in the nursery at church... climbing out of the crib, ect.

Wednesday morning Miller woke up with these little red dots on her feet. My immediate reaction was she must be having an allergic reacting to her shots from the day before. As the day progressed and I took her temperature several times with no fever, the dots turned into a solid rash and was moving up her legs. So by 3 p.m. I contact her doctor to see what I needed to do. But because she didn't have a temperature and wasn't acting like it bothered her I didn't think it was a major deal. Well the Doctor didn't have any more appointments for the day so the nurse suggested we take her to the E.R. if it spread any further. So by 9 p.m. Wednesday night it had moved up her little tummie so of course I panic and so does Shane so we jumped in the car and headed to the E.R. After an hour we finally get back into a room where they inform us they are going to have to draw blood out of her tiny veins that are no bigger then a hair and put a foley catheter in to take a urine sample. By this time I am in tears because you see your precious child on a hospital bed as helpless as can be and there's nothing I can do for her. It was more miserable I think for Shane and I then for Miller. Finally, about 12:30 the doctor came in and diagnosed Miller with a Viral Rash. He told us that is an infant's way of trying to get rid of a virus. There was nothing they could give her to make it go away it just had to run it's course.

Thankfully, by Sunday the rash was gone.

Miller's 2 month Check-up

This past Tuesday Miller went in for her 2 month check-up as well as her first round of immunizations. She now weighs in at 11.08 ounces and is 21 1/2 inches long. The first thing was her drinking this liquid for the roto virus. The nurse said most babies don't like it because it is sour but it didn't bother Miller one bit. Then came the 3 needles. All together she had 5 immunizations but some of them were combined into one shot. After the first shot in her right leg, and a hysterical wahl, she got 2 more in her left leg. By this time it sounded like she had stopped breathing because she was crying so hard. Boy did it break my heart. But we survived and she was a trooper through it all. We get to do it all over again in 2 months for her 4 month shots.

Fall Fest at Church

On the Sunday night after Halloween our church hosted a Fall Festival for kids of all ages. It was quite a sight to see all the costumes as well as the adults costumes. They had a cake walk that DeDe worked, Blow up toys you jump in, a magic show, all kinds of carnival games like bobbing for apples and a dunking booth, and some of the best grilled corn around as well as hot dogs, nachos, turkey legs, & more candy than the local Wal-mart... do you get my drift? It was a Hit in the town. We decided to take Miller up there in her costume for people to ooohhh and aahhh over so Shane and I could enjoy all the food and candy! We're still kids at heart. Ü

Sunday School Pumpkin Party

On the night of Halloween we had our Adult 1 Sunday School class over for a Pumpkin Party which gave us a reason to light our burn pile that has been collecting fallen limbs and leaves for months now. We also had each couple bring a pumpkin to carve... What FUN! But the best guest of all was a stinging BUMBLE BEE named Miller! She was the star of the night. At first, she was not crazy about the costume but eventually got used to it. I think it reminded her of the womb because it was so warm and cushioned. We were very excited that Uncle Cory and Megan got to come in for the weekend as well.

Pooped after Walmart trip

Miller was catching up on her rest after a long and exhausting grocery trip to Wal-mart on Saturday. Thankful Gigi and G-Pop had to go grocery shopping as well so they decided to come with us and shop with Miller so we could get our groceries. Needless to say, Miller was exhausted!

Western Days

Mamaw & Pap came down for Miller's first Western Days. Western Days is a big event in Hallsville held every year. It begins on Friday night with a football game. Then Saturday morning is a parade and locals set up booths to sell items they make. Uncle Bud had a booth selling his beautiful birdhouses. Then Saturday evening is the Miss Hallsville Pageant for Hallsville High School Senior girls. Mamaw & Pap watched Miller at the Dairy Queen while Shane & I walked around the different booths.

Tommy Miller "Run for the Prize"

In honor of dad, Coach Dean McDaniel decided to host a Tommy Miller "Run for the Prize" 5K run through Hallsville. It turned out to be a huge success as well as raised money for the Tommy Miller Memorial Scholarship Fund. Over 150 contestants participated including children who ran a 3K. We see everyday how dad's legacy still lives on.

Miller's First trip to Dallas

We headed to the Big D on Thursday, October 9th, for several reasons. 1) Uncle Cory's 27th Birthday 2) Mommy needed to get out of Longview & 3) Miller was ready for her first big shopping trip to Dallas. It was such a fun and exciting getaway for The Goswick Family and DeDe. When we arrived on Thursday evening we met Uncle Cory and Megan as well as Logan and Gloria Gaddis at a Sushi Restraunt to celebrate Uncle Cory and Logan's Birthdays. As the weekend went on, Miller got to see what it was like to shop all day for 3 days. Mommy did give her a break for one day and let her stay at Uncle Cory's appartment with Shane and Uncle Cory to catch up on some football. As the weekend came to an end and we said our goodbyes Miller went right to sleep. She was POOPED! Overall we were so proud of her on her first road trip.

Miller's first Bobcat Football Game

Miller is 3 weeks and 1 day old here. This is her first Hallsville Bobcat football game. She must have brought them good luck because Hallsville beat Mt. Pleasant 24 - 7 in their first district game of 2008. Next Friday, we play at Marshall. We plan on taking Miller again to see if she will bring more luck, but with Marshall it will take more skill than luck to bring home a W.<

Hurricane Ike

The winds from Hurricane Ike started picking up in our area around 12 PM and continued until about 8 or 9 PM, taking our power out with it. The pictures you see look like we have the lights on but don't be fooled. NO LIGHTS/NO AC. We like to keep our house like an ice box and thankfully Miller has adjusted. We just keep her well bundled. Unfortunatly, because we had no AC, we had to strip her down to her diaper. I guess she is pretty modest, because she didn't like that idea or the idea of it being a little toasty. About 2 AM she had all she could take and decided to wake everyone in the house up(Shane, Courtney, DeDe, Zippo, Coco, & Bentley) That is when Courtney and I held an emergency family meeting and decided that a cool car ride would be the best idea. We cruised down Hwy 80, then back around the loop taking about an hour and that was all it took. Miller was happy for the rest of the night. When I say happy, I mean asleep!!

This thing is amazing compared to the sink bath we tried to give her last time while she was laying on the counter. We actually think that little Miller was enjoying the bath because she was so pleasant the whole time.

We took these pictures trying to get a good one for the birth announcement for the Longview News Journal which will run on Sunday Sept. 21st. My precious baby Miller is 1 week old in these pics. We just had just had her PKU test done and should get results next week some time. Miller is still doing great and we(the parents) are lovin' life and losin' sleep. Mainly momma is losing sleep because she's got the goods that daddy doesnt. Even still we are so excited to be parents and be blessed with a healthy, beautiful, happy, sweet, precious(and the list could go on) baby girl. May the Lord have the glory amen.

Miller Comes Home(9/6/08)

Miller Grace got to come home Saturday morning around 11 AM. After being in the hospital two days, attempting to sleep in uncomfortable beds and worrying about Miller constantly, it was great to be in the comfort of our own home again. Miller hasn't had any problem so far adjusting. Grandparents are steady spoiling her(which is ok for now, HA). Zippo(big dog) & Coco(little dog) have slowly but surely adjusted to the new baby. Everything is going great and Courtney and I are steadily amazed at this little miracle the Lord has blessed us with.

Miller Grace Goswick

Miller Grace Goswick came into this world on September 4th, 2008. At 6:33 PM the Lord blessed us with a 7 LB 4 ounce 18-1/2" bundle of joy. She is such a blessing and we are so thankful. Right now she just sleeps, eats, poops, pees, and cries. In that order. We thank everyone for all the prayers, support and gifts and ask for continued prayer for Miller and for Courtney and I as new parents. Here are a few pics of her first moments
